With Skype, you can do the following.

  • Send text messages to each other in real time free of cost.

  • Call and talk with each other. Call a friend's computer free of cost.

  • See when your friend is online. (You can disable this feature at anytime).

  • See your friend as he / she speaks and or he / she can see you with the use of your computers' webcam. (You can disable this feature at anytime)

  • Send and open files as you speak.

  • Customize the look of this application.

  • Look at each other's live desktops. This Skype feature is called 'desktop or screen sharing'. *

* This feature is a good choice for calls that require you and your friend to see each other's screens real time. This feature has many applications. For instance, it is very useful when you need to show each other how to navigate through a hard-to-explain process on a computer application.
