Facebook Page Backend Tour 2017


This post assumes that you have already created a Facebook page but must now finetune its content. Use this post to give you a quick rundown of the backend to speed up your learning experience.

Quick Tour of your Facebook fan page (top to bottom)

  • Your dashboard options are different to what visitors see. They include page (where you and or the public can post), messages (for private messaging), notifications, insights (for analytics) and so on.

  • Select 'page info' in the left column of the dashboard
  • The left column menu options (aka 'tabs') are links that also appear to visitors. However, unlike your visitors, you will be able to edit these pages when you them 
  • The menu below the banner, in this example with the options 'like', 'follow', 'share' and '...' (for more) appear regardless of your location on the page.
  • Notice the options, among which include creating a Facebook ad



Change the order of the left column menu options (aka 'tabs') on your Facebook fan page

  • Click 'settings' in the top right corner of the page (above the banner)
  • Select 'edit page' in the left column
  • Hold and drag the menu option up or downwards over or below another option. When you release the menu option, it will snap into place.



Show your correct profile on your business Facebook fan page
Some Facebook users manage their personal profile along with one or several Facebook pages. When contributing a post, liking and so on, select the correct profile beforehand.

  • Select the 'page' tab in the top menu
  • Select the 'home' option in the left column menu
  • Select your business profile from the profile drop down menu in the top right corner of the text box
