HelpCenter app anchor tags

I love the HelpCenter app because its interactivity contributes positively to the customer experience. It serves as my online store's FAQs page. Its mini articles for each question and answer offers a navigation-friendlier alternative to blogging. For instance, it uses predictive typing to quickly suggest relevant FAQs articles based on SEO-friendly long tailed keywords I embedded in an article's title and or body. Furthermore, my hyperlinks from any other webpage not only arrive at this FAQs page but then automatically scroll down and open specific articles, the transitions of which look really sleek.

To customize the FAQs page stem URL
After installing HelpCenter, the webpage URL will start with your domain name. However, you can select among several extension like /apps/, /a/, /community/, /tools/ and so on.
  • Log in to your admin Shopify account and select 'apps'.
  • In the 'HelpCenter' row, select 'view details'
  • Click the dropdown menu to see extension options. Select one and click 'save'

To generate anchor tags specific to an article

  • When creating a new question and answer, click the 'view HTML / < >' button (highlighted below) in the editor.

  • Paste this anchor tag HTML code <p><a name="unique_name"></a></p> at the top of the editor window. You may experiment with the optional <p> and </p> tags on either end of the highlighted code.

  • Customize the red highlighted section. As you can see in the image immediately below, the customized version in this example is why_us. Ideally, use relevant SEO-friendly keywords.

  • If you are unfamiliar with HTML code, you may switch back to regular rich text view by clicking the '<> / view HTML' button again. However, before doing so, you may want to type any random characters like 'HERE HERE' below the code to know the point from which you should type as normal. This might be helpful since the code will not show in the rich text (ie the usual, non HTML) view of the editor.

To apply the anchor tag
  • View the page as your visitor would
  • Notice that the article's title appears as a hyperlink (highlighted below in blue). Click that link.
  • Copy the new URL in the URL window (highlighted in red below). Notice that it already has the anchor tag you created in the previous step. Now you can use that link anywhere on and off your site.
