Security Against Malaware

This short post provides an overview of steps you can take to protect your computer against malaware. 

• Download a powerful program. ESET NOD32 is a powerful option that allows you to download a free 30-day full service trial. If ESET is not possible, consider arguably less powerful alternatives like Windows Defender that is likely already on your computer. 
• Disconnect from the internet.
• Run ESET from within the 'computer scan' screen.
• If any 'detections' (ie threats) occur, select the 'clean' option and then run the same test a second time. If you have effectively cleaned the detections from the first run, the results should show up without any new detections as pictured below with the green tick.
  
  
  
• If you are concerned about malaware, you might also be concerned with safe backups. If so, now would be the time to scan the target device(s) offline.
